No Visa Needed With APEC Business Travel Card

Travelling for short business among 19 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member countries, there is no visa needed with APEC Business Travel Card. The card holder has to be citizen of the APEC participating economies under the conference of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation or APEC project.

In Thailand, an APEC Business Travel Card can be applied by a Thai business person who is holding at least a manager position at a company which is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand or the Federation of Thai Industries or the Thai Bankers Association. The applicant must not have been convicted in a criminal case or denied entry by any of the participating countries before.

As of 2021, there are 19 countries (Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Chile, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam) participating in the scheme. Canada and the United States of America are currently transitional members, which do not offer reciprocal arrangements for entry to their countries. ABTC holders need to present a visa or entry permit when entering them. However, they provide fast track immigration processing lanes for ABTC holders. Citizens of the above countries except Canada and the USA can apply for an ABTC. Also permanent residents in one of the APEC member countries who are citizens of a third party country (including Canada and the United States of America) may apply for APEC Business Travel Card.

APEC Business Travel Card is valid for 5 years. However, it may expire the same time as the holder’s passport if when he gets the card, his passport has less than 5 years. It saves the holder so much time and money if you have to otherwise apply for a visa each time to travel to those participating countries. Entering the member countries, you will need to show the ABTC with your passport. Most participating countries provide fast-track entry and exit through special APEC lanes at major international airports and permit your stay up to 90 days.
