Re-Entry Permit

Our clients ask this question about what a re-entry permit is all the time. A foreigner who is permitted to stay in Thailand, needs to get a re-entry permit before traveling outside the country so that upon his/her return, he can enter Thailand again on the same visa or permit of stay and can stay until the originally permitted period expires. If you do not get a re-entry permit before your departure from Thailand, it means your permit of stay or the extended permit of stay is finished once you leave the country.

How to get a re-entry permit before departure from Thailand

  1. The foreigner can walk-in to apply at the Immigration office (and has to stay in line for a long time usually). However, if you do not have time to go through the hassle yourself, talk to us.
  2. The foreigner makes an appointment online for the time he will go to the Immigration office to do the re-entry permit. This is applicable at the Immigration Division 1 only. The Immigration officer will check the basic information in advance. When the appointment has been scheduled, the foreigner can bring his/her passport to be stamped for the re-entry permit and pay for the fee.
  3. The foreigner can apply at the Re-Entry Permit Section at the airport or the border before his/her departure. He/she must get there early to just in case there is a long line and they may not have enough time to do it before departure.
